Tandberg Vision 10 Reuse ================= The Tandberg Vision 10 video terminal system is an endpoint from a very sophisticated ISDN conferencing system. These were in use until about 2005. They are now being thrown in the rubbish. These machines are masterpieces of industrial design. They both performed brilliantly and looked like what they are. So what use are they now? These machines have two elements that are of significant utility. First is the display element. This is a colour RGB plus composite sync CRT display, the equal of a Sony PVM-9045QM. A fantastic PAL video monitor. The second is an ideally placed colour PAL CCD camera with manual aperature and focus control. The Acorn BBC Model-B computer has a RGB plus composite sync output that is directly compatible with the Tandberg monitor. It can be directly connected without any buffering. It will simply work. The video camera is fully compatible with all PAL composite video equipment. It is gorgeous. The following photo gallery shows my retasking of this machine as both Acorn monitor and video camera while preserving its functional aesthetic. WARNING: THERE ARE POTENTIALLY FATAL VOLTAGES PRESENT IN THIS MACHINE. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO THIS YOURSELF IF UNQUALIFIED. Show these images to your tech or engineer and they will be able to create a fantastic RGB+S / PAL camera for you. Do not allow these machines to be cast away. They remain useful. Composite video and eight bit computers will always be in use. Photo Guide: -=-=-=- |
