lead berry research - pk2pk
=========== "pk2pk" is an expression from signal analysis meaning "peak to peak" as in the full swing of an analogue waveform. This project came about with the acquisition of an old Tascam 22-4 quarter inch reel to reel recording deck. The concept was to create a set of minimal tech noire tracks using as a maximum 4 instruments. That there were no computers involved, which at the time was an humiliation, is now something to be proud of. The complement of instruments consisted of Roland CR-8000 and TR-606 drum machines; both playing and executing timing triggers. The bass lines and lead lines were hand played on variously a Roland Jupiter-4, SH-101, SH-09, Sequential Circuits Six-Trak, a PAIA Fatman and a Korg Poly-6. The tape stock was Ampex 456 and this accounts for the hearty sound and the tape hiss. The effects array consisted of Boss DSD-2 delay, PH-2 phaser and Ensoniq DP4. track list: ======= 01) thorium [02:59] [++ video ++] 02) earth rise [06:33] [++ video ++] 03) perigee [07:36] [++ video ++] 04) kapteyn's star [07:36] [++ video ++] 05) mal aria [08:15] [++ video ++] 06) yersinia pestis [06:03] [++ video ++] 07) eigen vector [06:04] [++ video ++] 08) jupiter [04:55] [++ video ++] associated music videos: =========== thorium earth rise perigee kapteyn's star mal aria yersinia pestis eigen vector jupiter credits: ===== recorded at lead berry research, wilbrod street, ottawa produced by kenneth walter balys thorium, earth rise, kapteyn's star and jupiter mixed by marc murray at raven street studios, ottawa perigee, mal aria, yersinia pestis and eigen vector mixed by frank fish levin at fishtank studios, ottawa mastered by frank levin at db recording systems, ottawa cd layout and design by paul totti written and performed by kenneth walter balys released 1997 format: compact disk product identification: LBRCD970001 ©1997,2005 Beatkamp Inc., All Rights Reserved. |
